Froodly (Acquired)

Tech x community = creating the solution to combat food waste

Process

My Role

Market research, industry analysis, strategy development, ideation, community and account management

Discover

2015 was still an early stage of food waste reduction.

  • Why do some shops apply discount stickers on expiring products, some do not? Are these products a stigma?

  • How do shops handle expiring products? How long is the supply chain?

  • Who actually buy the discounted expiring products? What motivate them to do so?

  • How do people learn about food preservation?

Define

The environmental-friendly and price-sensitive customers would be the early-adopters.

Investment on holistic education would be needed to solve this problem e.g. redesigning discount stickers on expiring products to improve the image of such, in-store tasting events.

Design

Our format evolved from interactions in Facebook groups to our Froodly app (iOS and Android).

We had organized various educational and promotional events like panel discussion at the University of Helsinki and food distribution to raise awareness as well.
